The obligatory fanboy opening rant

A friend of mine took me to Omaha to see Tom Petty and some band that I knew little about. I liked Petty but I was totally blown away by the opening band (5 points if you can guess who). I had rarely seen a band go to such effort to entertain an audience. They leaped around. They took requests from the audience (they did an old Beatles b-side and a Sex Pistols song … do you really think that the audience asked for those?) They led the audience in a sing along to a part of The Tit Photographer Blues that was decidedly NOT in the original song (it was one word chanted over and over). They got an encore (an unheard of thing in that day and age for an opening band). All with an odd mélange of retro Stratocaster licks and oddball violin and mandolin fills, air guitar and on top of that, a drummer in a boxing ring. They drove the audience nuts. I went out and bought what I could find the next day. I never got a chance to see them play again. But I listened to the LPs that I could find. I was immensely happy when I found the His Master's Choice CD. I did a random search one day looking for a picture to put on a mixtape I did of them years before. I found a virtually dead email list. So I posted to the list looking for a picture or two. I got a half dozen. And ended up doing this.

There is a semi complete discography.. There are also links to the current doings of the boys in the band. I figure that this will grow occasionally as I find things to put in it. If you have anything to send me, my email is below.

I'd like to thank Kelly Lake for being a fan above and beyond the call of duty and for giving me the push (unbeknownst to her) to getting this page done. I'd also like to thank Ed Oliver for sending me lots of stuff. This page would not exist without the two of them.

And last but certainly not least I would also like to send a special thanks to Bobby Valentino for sending me a TON of pictures and Bryn & Tony for their bios (Who'da thunk that I would hear from the band ??? Thanks guys).

If you have any comments or questions about this page. Let me know. Eric
